Shish kabob grill-out (a.k.a jerk off)

August 20, 2011 - A warm late summer Saturday afternoon.

Craig and I talk enough jerk smack that eventually we just have to throw down.  Not Bobby Flay style.  Fuck Bobby Flay.  Cuisine Cousins style!

Craig applied a dry jerk rub to some Roundy's pork cuts.  I applied a wet jerk marinade to some Roundy's chicken breast.  Our hope: aggressive seasoning would make the most of cheap meat.

My wet marinade went something like this:
Large splash of Soy sauce
Large splash of Veg. oil
1/2 tbsp allspice
1/2 tbsp thyme
2-3 big cloves of garlic
1/2 tbsp ginger, grated or minced
2 tsp hot cayenne pepper
1 tsp cinnamon
bunch of salt
lots of black pepper

We cubed our marinaded/rubbed cuts of meats and skewered it with some chopped onions, bell peppers and zucchini to make some Shish Kabobs.

BAM!  Check out those kabobs!  Also notice Craig mixing up drinks in the background.  We came into some fresh mint at the farmer's market.  So, naturally, we decided to make some minty drink, specifically Caipiroskas (a caipiroska is a Brazilian drink like a mojito except with vodka instead of rum.)  They were delicious little numbers.  Just mix copious amounts of mint, lime and vodka with club soda.

While we grilled our kabobs, we played a little bocce ball.
There's my toss.

Craig lines one up.

Laura got the opportunity to try the jerk kabobs. Finger licking good!

We grilled corn, too.  Not too bad!

Our landlord's dog, Atticus, smelled out our feast.  We threw him a bone.  Wait, cob, rather.

Atticus wanted some more.  I think that's an endorsement.  You can't go wrong with jerk kabobs.  We couldn't declare a clear winner.  We decided the jerk chicken and pork complimented each other well.  So everyone wins. Womp womp!

Mother's Day Indian Explosion!

Mother's day 2011 the Cuisine Cousins were at it again with the culinary tinkering.  On the menu, paneer masala and lamb saag with naan.  Craig and Laura got a headstart making the naan on Saturday.  On Mother's Day, all three of us cooked on butts off with the other two dishes, only stopping briefly for bocce ball.  The results are captured below in pictorial form.
